A Legacy of Dominance

NDSU’s 10 titles have come in the last 14 seasons, with their only loss in the championship occurring two years ago against South Dakota State. The Bison remain the only team in modern college football history to achieve a 16-0 season.

Montana State’s Resilient Fightback

Mellott’s Heroics Fall Short

Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott showcased his talent with:

  • A 44-yard touchdown run
  • 135 rushing yards on 14 carries
  • Passing stats: 13-of-24 for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns

Despite Mellott’s efforts, the Bobcats were unable to overcome an early 21-3 deficit.

“Guys kept fighting… and we had a group of guys that fought for this team,” Mellott reflected post-game.
